Ashley LaRoquePh.D. Candidate at the University of North Carolina GreensboroI am an Environmental Health Sciences PhD student at UNCG working in Dr. Terui's lab in the field of aquatic ecology. My project utilizes a capture-mark-recapture framework to evaluate ecological drivers of movement, specifically in small streams in central North Carolina.

A little more background on meI am originally from Buffalo, MN and went to the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where I obtained my Bachelors in Science studying Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. I minored in German (for the fun of learning a language) and Marine Biology in which I was able to go on a research study abroad in Honduras.
Living in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" made me even more curious about aquatic ecology so as an undergraduate student I joined the Fisheries Systems Ecology Lab led by Dr. Hansen. I was able to work as a technician on a food web structure project that incorporated both field and laboratory work which was when I decided fisheries ecology was the path I wanted to fully pursue. |
